We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established professional services business. Our client is a highly regarded, growing organisation with a strong reputation and long-standing client relationships. They are now looking to appoint a hands-on Management Accountant to support the finance function during a period of maternity cover.
A hands-on role with real ownership. This isn’t a role where you sit above the numbers — you’ll be right in them. If you enjoy producing management accounts and getting stuck into the day-to-day detail, this is a genuinely varied role where you’ll take ownership of month-end while remaining hands-on across the finance function.
The Role
As Management Accountant, you’ll be responsible for producing monthly management accounts up to review, alongside delivering transactional finance tasks. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts (accruals, prepayments, journals)
- Completing full balance sheet reconciliations (including intercompany and fixed assets)
- Supporting VAT returns and reporting
- Producing reports and contributing to the monthly business pack
- Processing purchase and sales invoices
- Carrying out bank, purchase ledger, and sales ledger reconciliations
- Supporting payroll processes (training provided if needed)
- Assisting with audits and wider finance tasks
About You
You might be:
- A Management Accountant in a smaller business
- An Assistant Management Accountant ready to step up
- A Senior Accounts Assistant already producing management accounts
What matters is your ability to balance month-end responsibility with hands-on finance work. We’re looking for someone who:
- Can produce management accounts to review stage
- Is comfortable processing and reconciling transactions
- Enjoys working in a small, collaborative team
- Has strong attention to detail and takes ownership
- Is confident using Excel (Sage helpful, not essential)
Qualifications are not essential – AAT, part-qualified, or QBE all considered.
Why Apply?
- True end-to-end finance exposure
- A role where you’ll do the work, not just review it
- Stable, well-established business environment
- Great opportunity to step up or broaden your experience
