Are you a commercially focused Finance Director with a background in construction or subcontracting? Are you ready to play a pivotal role in an ambitious, fast-growing business with a clear plan to scale?
We’re partnering with a design-led subcontractor based in Stafford. With a plan to double their turnover, they deliver high-spec commercial solutions for some of the UK’s most prestigious build projects. The business is well-established, values-led, and poised for the next phase of growth following significant investment and office refurbishment.
They’re now looking for a strategic yet hands-on Finance Director to join their senior leadership team and help steer that growth.
The Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you’ll lead the finance function while also acting as a trusted strategic partner to the board. Key responsibilities include:
- Full ownership of financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting
- Overseeing cost-to-complete, Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR), and CIS processes
- Supporting commercial decision-making with accurate job costing and margin analysis
- Managing cashflow, risk, and compliance, while driving financial performance
- Developing systems, controls, and people as the business scales
- Partnering closely with operations and commercial teams to ensure alignment and delivery
What We’re Looking For
You’ll be a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with:
- Experience in construction, subcontracting, or project-based industries
- Strong understanding of CVRs, CIS, and dealing with main contractors
- Experience operating at or near board level in a growing business
- A track record of driving improvement and supporting strategic scale-up
- A hands-on approach, strong work ethic, and a sense of humour
- Someone who values teamwork, embraces change, and leads by example
What’s on Offer
Salary of £110,000 to £120,000, depending on experience. Bonus and long-term incentive potential. Benefits package. Primarily office-based in Stafford, with flexibility where needed.
