A well-established manufacturing business in Sunderland is seeking a Financial Accountant (temp to perm) to join its site-based finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified accountant to step into a broad, hands-on role with team leadership responsibility, offering a clear pathway into a Financial Controller position.

You will be joining a busy manufacturing environment, working closely with operations and taking ownership of key financial processes while supporting and guiding a small finance team.

The Role

  • Preparing monthly financial accounts and reporting
  • Maintaining strong financial controls and processes
  • Supporting and leading a small finance team
  • Overseeing balance sheet reconciliations and accuracy
  • Supporting budgeting and forecasting
  • Working closely with operational stakeholders on site

About You

We are looking for a qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment. You will ideally:

  • Have experience in a Financial Accountant or Management Accountant role
  • Be confident in financial reporting and controls
  • Have experience supporting or mentoring junior team members
  • Be looking to take on more responsibility and develop leadership skills
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment

This role is ideal for someone looking to step up and progress towards the Financial Controller level.
