Are you an experienced Dealership Accountant looking for a role where you can take ownership of the full accounts process? We are recruiting on behalf of a successful, family-owned business that operates within the motor trade. This is a hands-on, standalone finance role based at a dealership in Nottingham, with one day per week supporting a second local site.
This is not a narrow transactional role. You will be responsible for producing monthly management accounts, completing composite accounts, bank reconciliations, VAT returns, accounts payable and supporting cash flow and aged debt reporting. You will work closely with the sales team to ensure deals are processed correctly, finance rules are followed and month-end is completed accurately. You will need to be confident enough to challenge where processes are not being followed, particularly around VAT compliance and deal paperwork.
The role will include:
- Producing monthly management accounts for review.
- Completing composite accounts.
- Bank reconciliations and cash reconciliations.
- Preparing VAT returns.
- Managing accounts payable from end to end.
- Processing incoming invoices.
- Reviewing deals and ensuring they are closed correctly at month-end.
- Working with sales and operational teams to resolve queries.
- Supporting cash flow forecasting and aged debt analysis.
- Using dealership and accounting systems to manage reporting.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a dealership, motor trade or automotive finance environment.
- Experience producing management accounts.
- A good understanding of accruals, prepayments, depreciation, VAT and bank reconciliations.
- Experience with composite accounts would be highly beneficial.
- Confidence working independently in a standalone finance role.
- Strong communication skills and the confidence to challenge non-finance colleagues when needed.
- Experience using Navigator or another dealership management system would be advantageous.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a close-knit, family-owned business where you will have real ownership of the accounts process. You will be able to make the role your own, build strong relationships across the business and work in a varied position covering the full finance cycle.
