Assistant Accountant – 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract
Derby | £30,000–£38,000 | Hybrid – 3–4 days on site
A manufacturing company based in Derby is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join its finance team on a 12-month cover contract.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you’ll support month-end accounting, oversee sales and purchase ledger activity, and contribute to costing, stock reporting and variance analysis.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing journals, accruals and prepayments.
- Completing balance sheet and trial balance reconciliations.
- Supporting month-end reporting.
- Overseeing ledger activity and helping resolve overdue debts and invoice disputes.
- Supporting manufacturing costing, stock analysis and investigating variances.
About you
You’ll be AAT qualified, part qualified or qualified by experience, with practical month-end accounting experience and confidence working with ledgers.
Manufacturing experience is preferred, particularly exposure to costing and stock. Strong Excel skills and experience using an ERP system are also desirable.
This could suit an Assistant Accountant, Assistant Management Accountant or an experienced Accounts Assistant ready for broader responsibilities.
