As our Transport Planning team continues to grow, we are looking to appoint either a Senior Transport Planner or Principal Transport Planner to play a key role in delivering high-quality transport planning advice across a diverse range of development projects. This is an exciting opportunity to join a respected and ambitious business where your expertise, commercial awareness and client-focused approach will help shape the future growth of our transport planning offering.

The Role

  • Lead and support the delivery of transport planning commissions for a broad client base, working closely with developers, landowners, local authorities and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Manage development projects from inception through to planning determination.
  • Provide highways and transport advice to clients and internal teams.
  • Liaise with local authorities, National Highways and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake junction capacity assessments and transport modelling.
  • Manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor.
  • Support business development activities and identify new opportunities.
  • Mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Contribute to fee proposals, project management and financial performance.
  • For Principal-level candidates, lead projects, develop strategic client relationships and support the continued growth of the service line.

About You

We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering transport planning projects within a consultancy environment.
  • Strong report-writing and analytical skills.
  • Good understanding of the UK planning system and transport policy.
  • Experience using industry-standard transport software.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

For Principal Transport Planner

  • Significant consultancy experience leading complex development projects.
  • Proven ability to manage clients and win repeat business.
  • Experience mentoring and managing colleagues.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to business development.
  • Chartered status or progression towards chartership would be advantageous.
