The Opportunity:

We\’re pleased to offer an exciting 12-month fixed term contract opportunity for a part-qualified Accountant to further develop their career within a supportive and committed global insurance organisation.

As part of our continued growth in the Leeds office, we are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Finance Operations team. This team plays a critical role in ensuring the integrity of financial results and maintaining strong control over the balance sheet to minimise risk.

In this role, you will take ownership of key accounting processes and financial close activities, ensuring accuracy and consistency of financial data. You\’ll collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders to manage expectations and drive process excellence.

Your New Role:

  • Detailed understanding of the Finance close process and timelines.
  • Contribute to the development of team\’s business plan in order to maximize productivity and performance
  • Participate in meetings, as required, in order to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practice.
  • Comply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are met.
  • Contribute and manage the refinement of process, procedures and systems to continuously improve the efficiency of accounting activities.
  • Provide high level advice, guidance and information on financial matters to support decision making and improve understanding on financial management.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including internal and external auditors, to ensure service delivery meets customer expectations

About you:

Given the fast pace and cyclical demand, it\’s important that you already have an understanding of the workings of a finance department and be driven to succeed.

In order to thrive in the role of a Financial Accountant here at QBE, we would expect you to have working experience in most of the following areas:

  • Be a part-qualified accountant (for example ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or equivalent or have relevant years of working experience
  • Have an in depth understanding of best-practice accounting (in an insurance environment preferred, although strong candidates from other industries will be considered)
  • Have good working knowledge of relevant accounting software and tools
  • Can demonstrate experience of structured process improvement in an accounting environment
  • Be confident building controls into processes
  • Good attention to detail
