About the role

This role supports the successful integration of new systems, products, services, and validation campaigns to assure the quality of the deliveries on behalf of EE and its customers, through technical and commercial launch. Ideally we are looking for someone with a strong technical background and someone to be our SME as our go to person for our teams and willing to share your expertise and knowledge. This is a great opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of networks and the innovation in what we do including access to new technologies. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team who deliver projects and services for our customers through the comprehensive testing of our mobile network technologies and innovations. This role is based in London or Bristol and our hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.

What you’ll be doing

  • Be able to utilise a broad knowledge of testing approaches, practices & techniques to engage projects, programmes, stakeholders, etc., to create the Test Architecture elements of the overall solution design.
  • Support Delivery leads, Programme Test Managers and Test Managers in achieving their strategic goals for the project/programme/activity by providing technical support to them and the test delivery teams.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of testing methodologies and tools to drive improvements through insights gained via analysis at all stages of the e2e delivery lifecycle.
  • Identify what testing tools and technologies can be implemented, aligning with those already used across the broader design and development functions and those being developed by our strategic technology partners.
  • Work with Test Automation teams to design and develop the test automation framework as an intrinsic part of the solution design. To drive automation and increase our automation footprint over successive deliveries.
  • Work with the Environment delivery and support teams to ensure Mobile NW and IT environments keep up with testing tools and delivery requirements. Help define and drive an Environment strategy that caters for live reflective and future releases in the lab.
  • Provide technical know-how, documentation and training to test and other business functions. Train and help learning within the team by technically coaching members of the Mobile core Test team.
  • Stay up to speed on process, practice and technology developments to ensure they are adopted to enhance the solutions applied to technical and business requirements.
  • Ability to work with internal and external design and development teams/suppliers to assess and implement new technologies/ delivery methodologies to drive continuous improvement and efficiency e.g., CICD, Agile, Waterfall.
  • Be able to work as a Test architect for any new Platforms and Services and help drive the testing strategy and delivery methodologies around it.

  • AMF, SMF, UPF, SBA, HTTP2 API Services
  • Evolved Packet Core (3GPP LTE) - MME, HSS, SGW, PGW, ePDG
  • GSM & UMTS Architectures - Circuit switched voice & messaging, MSC, SMSc, SGSN, GGSN, EIR, HLR
  • Authentication, Policy Control & Billing Mechanisms - PCF, OCS, CDR, Radius, AAA, One NDS, HSS, DSR, LBS, EIR, Mobile IP
  • Cloud Architectures & Network Function Virtualisation - EMS, VNF, NFVI, OSS, MANO
  • Monitoring, Tracing & Test Tools - Wireshark, Netscout, Jira, Confluence, Gitlab, Kubernetes
  • Ericsson CNOM (Core Network Operations Manager)

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Automation test frameworks and associated tools like SEGRON, Spirent, Landslide, Jira etc.
  • Have proven track record of working with and supporting data driven, support focused teams, with diverse capabilities in a fast moving and challenging technical & business environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and to assist peers in same situation whilst ensuring time, cost and quality requirements are maintained.
  • Ability to analyse and assess technical and business requirements to define effective & efficient test architecture & delivery methodologies.
  • Establish effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
