Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance. An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

Why this job matters
Being part of a dynamic team responsible for ensuring that BT meets its legal obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act. Specifically, under this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that systems are in place that enable BT to meet these UK network obligations cost effectively, with appropriate security and meeting legal & BT operational requirements. This will involve working with network designers and stakeholders both across BT and government/law enforcement (globally). In addition to the design and implementation of these systems, the role will also involve providing expert technical support to these systems.
This job role is based in Ipswich. Hybrid (3 days office based & 2 days remote). Monday-Friday 37.5 hours. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.
What you’ll be doing
- Responsible for ensuring that obligations systems deliver legally required information and services to authorised agencies in line with relevant legislation.
- The focus of this role is network and system designs for obligatory platforms, including requirements capture, design, implementation, VV&T.
- Providing support to operational teams to resolve 3rd/4th line complex live issues.
- Ensure all specific project work is compliant with Government legal requirements and policies as well as BT security standards and policies.
- Track development of new products and services as well as the evolution of existing network platforms to ensure that relevant obligations capability can be maintained.
- Occasionally travelling globally for durations of up to two weeks at a time may be required as part of this role.
Essential Skills
- Significant experience of designing and configuring VMWare.
- Experience of configuring Linux, Windows Server, AAA.
- Have experience of solution design and/or system engineering.
- Have knowledge of security measures required to protect systems/data.
- Experience in designing and configuring IP networks.
