Have you ever wanted to play a key role in shaping innovative, enterprise network solutions for the defence sector? As our lead consultant specialist in our Defence Service Provider Networks practice, you’ll work with defence customers, internal teams, and third-party technology providers to design and deliver complex, fit-for-purpose solutions. Reporting to the Practice Manager, you’ll work across a range of teams from Sales, Business, Technology, Security, and Operations; ensuring seamless integration and alignment with customer digital strategies. With a foundation in robust ICT frameworks, security principles, and industry best practices, you’ll provide expert technical design leadership throughout the entire solution design lifecycle. Your role will involve creating innovative network architectures that transform how customers do business while maintaining compliance with strict security and policy requirements. Joining our Technical Design Authority team, you’ll work alongside architects, designers, and technology experts, bringing your knowledge and diverse experience to tackle unique and sensitive challenges to deliver impactful solutions and success.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the solution designer for a domain or service platform and provide solution overview and familiarisation to operational support teams.
  • Create statement of works for appropriate internal/external design and delivery team’s engagement.
  • Translate customer visions and business needs into actionable solution design requirements, including cost assessments (CAPEX/OPEX), dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies to support business opportunities and service delivery.
  • Offer subject matter expertise to stakeholders, shaping service changes, qualifying resource requirements, and addressing complex customer requests such as RFIs, CCNs, or solution proposals throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Develop enterprise and solution architecture documentation, including ‘as-is,’ ‘to-be,’ and transitional states, addressing business and technology needs while meeting stakeholder requirements.

Skills You’ll Need

  • Familiar with a wide range of ICT vendor solutions and products, including Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, F5, Nokia, Ribbon, Avaya, Microsoft, AWS, Dell/EMC, HPE, and Blackberry.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-standard architecture approaches and languages.
  • Adept at responding to in-life change requests and bid proposals, tailoring solutions to meet customer requirements.
  • Understand CAPEX/OPEX costings and ensures proposed changes align with customer needs and budgets.
  • Skilled at identifying risks, assessing impacts, proposing mitigation strategies, and solving problems effectively.
  • Able to explain ICT solutions to stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
