The Skills & Capability Specialist plays a crucial role in designing, developing, and managing skills & capability development products and interventions across BT Group, owning the end-to-end journey from definition to deployment and iteration.

A strong focus on customer centricity is essential for this role, ensuring all skills & capability development products address business challenges and drive sustainable value for BT Group.

What you\’ll be doing

  • Support the Senior Specialist, Skills & Capability in defining learning interventions that build skills and capabilities across BT Group, aligned to business priorities, owning individual products as part of a wider portfolio.
  • Work as part of a delivery team within a squad, supporting activities in the product lifecycle for skills & capability development interventions that enhance colleague experiences across BT Group.
  • Act as a product owner for individual skills & capability development products or parts of a larger intervention or portfolio, managing a multifunctional delivery team which may include external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the P&CPs, Strategic Workforce Planning team, and other stakeholders to identify customer needs and translate them into product requirements and user stories.
  • Lead in defining, scoping, designing, developing, and deploying skills & capability development products and interventions.
  • Gather feedback from end-users and stakeholders to refine products, ensuring they are value-adding and customer-centric.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data and analytics to support tracking of objectives, outcomes, and impact of learning interventions.
  • Work with Communities of Expertise and P&C Partnering Function to create, prioritize, and maintain the product backlog.
  • Design and develop products with a commercial focus, assessing cost and value, managing delivery within budget, and reviewing ROI.
  • Leverage expertise in behavioral and capability development, applying current theories, research, and best practices to create impactful learning products that enhance performance and capability.

Skills and Experience You’ll Need:

  • Expertise in building skills & capability, including behavioral/soft skills and technical skills at all organizational levels, influencing across the employee lifecycle to sustain performance and capability.
  • Ability to leverage external research, insights, and trends to develop innovative, colleague-centric learning interventions aligned with business strategy.
  • Strategic ability to identify capability gaps and translate them into relevant, actionable interventions with measurable ROI.
  • Experience with behavioral science and change management, translating insights into practical interventions.
  • Experience working in Agile squads and collaborating in a matrix environment.
  • Commercial acumen and ability to communicate effectively with business stakeholders, using deep business knowledge for decision-making.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with key stakeholders, influencing and gaining buy-in.
  • Ability to analyze internal data and external best practices to support innovative product design.
