Network & Firewall Specialist (One Braham (4140), London, United Kingdom)Recruiter: Luke ByrneCareer Grade: DInternal Closing Date: 5/8/25Location: London or Ipswich Why this job mattersAs the Network & Firewall Specialist, you will be responsible for the end to end design, operation and support of the Network and Firewall estate for the Media Cloud infrastructure. You will have autonomy for assisting in road maps and the technical direction of the platform, including new partners or technologies used. This platform supports our EE TV product as well as our Media & Broadcast customers (BBC, ITV, The Premier League, Freeview and many more).

It’s critical to our business, so needs to be supported with high levels of availability and minimal outages. You will work closely with internal squads, all of which work in an agile fashion. An ideal candidate will also be willing to support the teams on-call commitments.What you’ll be doing•    Maintaining and administering Cisco networks, Check Point Firewalls & Management•    Troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network defects•    Maintain integration with required monitoring tools to ensure operational observability•    Perform network changes to the firewall estate in support of Agile Delivery programs and Delivery teams•    Plan, Coordinate and implement Network security measures, enhancements and upgrades•    To be able to design new or changes to our network and firewall estate•    Maintain a strong security posture of our environments, keeping up to date with the latest security vulnerabilities•    To be able to work in an agile way (SCRUM/Kanban)•    Being an escalation point for 2nd/3rd line support tickets•    Raise changes for maintenance work in SNOW and Remedy and coordinate changes and approval process.•    Document new and existing processes to help share knowledge throughout the wider Core squad using wiki.•    Work in an agile manner using JIRA of a DevOps mindset across the engineering teams•    Works on continuous improvement opportunities to improve the team processes•    Perform capacity management•    Keeping up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends•    Build good working relationships with our customers and suppliers, communication is keySkill and Experience •    Cisco Networking•    Check Point Firewalls, including VSX and Maestro/Scalable Platforms•    VMware NSX•    ITIL framework knowledge and experience•    Knowledge of agile ways of working (SCRUM/Kanban)•    Experience in an operations environment•    Technology Strategy•    Automation experience•    Cloud Computing•    Growth Mindset•    Fantastic communication skillsExperience you’d be expected to haveMandatory Experience•    Designing, upgrading, operating and supporting Cisco networks•    Designing, upgrading, operating and supporting Check Point Firewalls•    Designing, upgrading, operating and supporting VMware NSX networking/SDN•    To be able to demonstrate a good level of security experience, and best practices•    Experience in agile ways of working•    Experience of working with technical and non-technical internal stakeholders, to understand requirements and implications of new technologies.•    Collaborating with internal teams and external suppliers to understand, evaluate and validate new technologies / patterns.Preferred Experience•    Membership of professional body/ standards organisations•    Experience of working in an Operational role•    Current Cisco certifications•    Current Check Point certifications•    Working on-call and occasional overnight change windowsBenefits •    10% on target bonus•    BT Pension scheme, minimum 5% Employee contribution, BT contribution 10%•    From January 2025, equal family leave:  receive 18 weeks at full pay, 8 weeks at half pay and 26 weeks at the statutory rate.
