This role is key to shaping the future of BT’s mobile core IP network, ensuring it meets the highest standards of performance, security, and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Define and agree IP network designs for the mobile core, aligned with architecture, operational, and security requirements.
- Produce high-quality design documentation (High-Level and Low-Level Designs).
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers to ensure solution delivery and roadmap alignment.
- Propose improvements to processes and technologies.
- Provide technical consultancy at platform or solution level to internal teams and stakeholders.
- Define test requirements and strategies for new designs.
- Maintain standards for Mobile Core IP network infrastructure.
- Drive implementation of core and cloud infrastructure security to manage risks.
- Oversee system design, build, testing, validation, maintenance, and ongoing support.
- Implement new and enhanced network technologies for enterprise and remote connectivity.
- Manage installation, testing, and setup of network hardware and software (firewalls, routers, switches, monitoring tools).
- Execute engineering efforts to ensure currency and supportability of networking technology.
- Contribute to technology lifecycle planning, roadmaps, and Network Health Assessments.
- Deliver documentation, knowledge transfer, and training for new solutions.
- Support clients with data protection and cloud capabilities.
- Provide escalation support for global network issues.
- Mentor other engineering professionals and share knowledge on emerging trends.

Experience You’d Be Expected To Have
Mandatory:
- IP networking experience in a service provider environment
- Hands-on experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Check Point and Fortinet firewalls in enterprise environments
Preferred:
- Ability to build collaborative business relationships and negotiate effectively
- Experience coaching and supporting team development
- Mobile Core Network knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Check Point Security Management
- Familiarity with Fortinet Security Fabric
- Exposure to cloud security integrations
