Please note, this role is a six month fixed term contract. Our Hybrid working model means you are expected to be in the office 3 days per week.
You\’ll have the following responsibilities
• Supporting and maintaining multi-vendor network environments, including hardware from Cisco, Juniper, Nokia, Ciena, Fujitsu, Huawei, and Hewlett Packard.
• Managing and configuring voice and switching technologies, including IP telephony, VoIP, SIP, PBX systems, TDM, and soft switch solutions.
• Working on physical infrastructure, including cabling, rack builds, switch installations, and fault resolution for network hardware.
• Supporting server technologies such as Cisco UCS and Sun Fire servers.
• Managing and optimising virtual environments, including VMware vCentre, ESXi, and Docker.
• Using automation and programming to streamline operations, leveraging Python, Bash, Shell, Ansible, SQL, and Perl.
• Handling deployments, maintenance, and fault resolution across Radius, DNS, BGP, OSPF, L2TP, Layer 2 VPNs (VPLS), Layer 3 VPNs, and MPLS.
• Diagnosing and resolving faults across voice, data, and physical network layers.
• Engaging with a highly skilled technical team, developing deep expertise, and driving innovation.
What we\’re looking for
- Hands-on experience with networking, voice/switching, or physical infrastructure.
- Strong technical problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve incidents effectively.
- A solid understanding of networking fundamentals (OSI Model, IP networking, routing, switching, VoIP, and telephony protocols).
- Experience with IT systems, physical installations, or telecommunications in high-stakes environments.
- A passion for learning and a self-motivated approach to developing new skills.
- The ability to work independently while also collaborating within a close-knit team.
- Previous experience in networking, systems engineering, voice communications, or physical network engineering (military or civilian) is highly desirable.
