Our Apprentice Network Engineers play a key part to ensure that our networks are designed, tested, built and maintained with fresh, new, innovative ideas in mind. What youâll be doing : Weâll get you working on real projects from day one, learning the skills and experience youâll need right away on the job. Youâll get involved in things like testing the latest networking technology, upgrading the existing network and the planning, installing and running of network elements. Youâll gain an in-depth understanding of the technology that underpins what we do, playing a part in supporting and maintaining high levels of stability and performance of the biggest and best mobile network in the UK. Youâll learn how to design, build, test, configure and optimise a distributed network, as well as how to analyse network performance and troubleshoot typical problems in networks. Weâll teach you how to identify and evaluate network security risks, and how to incorporate this into your network designs to ensure our network is secure, resilient and dependable. Youâll develop an understanding of the âmagic numbering schemeâ called IP addressing (Internet Protocol) that helps spin the world-wide web and connect billions of devices and users across the globe. You will also learn how streaming content (CDN) works to provide you movies from likes of Netflix/Amazon/YouTube on to your device. Youâll develop the skills to learn how to secure wired & wireless networks, control device loginsâ admin & user access, authentication and network automation. Donât worry if this is all new, youâre not expected to join us with any prior experience in this, weâll teach you everything you need to know. The apprentice training course: As an Apprentice Network Engineer, youâll study for a Level 6 (degree) apprenticeship in Network Engineering. Hours: 37.5 Hrs Mon-Fri Duration: Your apprenticeship will last for 48 months. Youâll spend a minimum of 20% of your time learning and studying. The qualifications youâll need: Three A-Levels with a minimum of BCC grades, 120 UCAS points. Youâll also need a minimum of five GCSEs at grades 4-9 (C or above) including English and Maths. The skills youâll need: Growth mindset Analytical thinking Proactivity After this apprenticeship: Once you have completed your apprenticeship, you will become part of a dynamic team of Network engineers supporting one of BTâs biggest customer base of Broadband ISP. Initially you will assist senior network design engineers in scoping, designing and testing network routing and switching solutions, both physical hardware and virtual network cloud.
