The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a huge strategic priority for BT and our commitment to do the best for our customer and our country. ESN will be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks in the world. and BT is proud to the official supplier providing mission critical and trusted communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. The ESN will replace the existing Airwave network and building upon on EE’s existing 4G network and to provide essential new voice, data services, and critical communications services to 300,000 members of frontline emergency service users.

Are you passionate about coding and network design, and seeking an entry level Developer role? Join a team where your Python skills and OSS design experience will directly impact millions of customers across BT, PlusNet, EE, and the Emergency Services Network. You'll collaborate with experts to design and deliver cutting-edge OSS solutions, including layer 3 trace management and geolocation systems. As you grow, you'll help build automation and data-driven tools that optimise mobile network performance and elevate customer experience.

The successful candidate will be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) as a minimum. You may even be required to undergo National Security Vetting (e.g. CTC, SC or NPPV).

What you’ll be doing

• Whether you're writing code, visualising network data, or solving real-world challenges, you'll be at the heart of innovation in one of the UK's most critical infrastructure teams
• You will develop your knowledge of RAN by working alongside your OSS Design colleagues to super charge your code to automate the network
• In time you will be able to ensure vendor OSS platform designs, meets the changes introduced by the evolving radio technologies
• Gather user requirements (both technical and non-technical) and propose solution strategies for predicting, planning and visualising RAN data
• Increase your wider business and mobile network knowledge, with more opportunities to collaborate on projects with other teams in and outside of the department

What we would like to see on your CV

You’re confident writing clean, efficient Python code and have solid experience with Unix/Linux scripting (BASH, PERL)
• You’ve worked with operating or building mobile networks. You may even have exposure to Network Element Management platforms like Nokia MantaRay NM, Ericsson ENM, Cisco EPNM OSS or other OSS tools
• Ideally, you’ll have foundation knowledge of the Radio Access Network and it’s OSS architecture
• You’re familiar with IP networks, virtual machines, and cloud-based hosting environments, and you’ll know how to make them work together
• Any experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms would be beneficial. If you’ve built or deployed anything in the cloud, this would be beneficial
