Java Software Architect

Function: Architecture Solution and Design

Unit: Digital

Location: 1 Braham Street, London, United Kingdom

This role is based at our London digital hub. We have a hybrid working model of 3 days together, 2 days wherever.

Why this job matters

This role will provide technical consultation and architecture to business, CTIO and IT teams to ensure development of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies. Delivering solutions that meet customer’s requirements, including necessary technical design consultations and driving business performance, efficiency and continuous improvement within the team.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for designing the technical architecture of new technology systems, overseeing the implementation of programs, and liaising with the software development team.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement opportunities to enhance the various teams’ approach towards technology selection and implementation in third party job allocation.
  • Accountable for all application design, technical solution architecture, development, transformation and modernization for third party job allocation.
  • Reduce cost of ownership using contemporary technologies and solutions in Product Domain.
  • Use industry wide expertise and skills in a number of technological areas and domains (Java and Open Source Stacks), and actively share with others in teams, projects and professions to create a culture of engineering excellence in the FND domain.
  • Work with team members including Product Owners and business stakeholders, to overcome adoption challenges and ensure success; for example, to keep focus on business KPIs.
  • Contributing to coaching and mentoring Software Engineering talent within the unit.

Skills and Experiences

  • Hands-on programming and software design with Java, Microservices and APIs.
  • Data Modelling Experience with either Oracle, MySQL or NoSQL databases.
  • Understanding of how the software architecture underpins and infrastructure architecture and be able to pivot between the two.
  • Hands-on experience in transforming, architecting, designing, and implementing solutions.
  • Microservices, Container orchestration.
  • AWS or GCP or any one cloud technologies.
  • Performance Test Model.
  • Understanding of telecom domain specially for planning and scheduling systems.

Good to have

  • Always On resilience for applications.
  • Hands-on experience on DevOps CI/CD Pipeline, ART, UT.
  • Understanding of Confluence.
  • Hands-on experience of Selenium/Jmeter.
