Our Networks Technicians play a key role in looking after our bespoke communications networks for clients, helping manage the support and development of global and highly complex voice and data platform solutions, following the ITIL service operations model. Your day-to-day work can range from troubleshooting network faults to completing customer and internal work orders, to system administration, project support and migration support. You will also carry out tasks to help install and commission various types of new equipment and technologies within our bespoke platforms. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
Responsibilities
- Network troubleshooting (diagnosing and resolving network faults).
- System administration (managing and maintaining systems).
- Voice and data platform support (global and complex solutions).
- ITIL service operations (knowledge of ITIL framework).
- Installation and commissioning of equipment (hardware and technology setup).
- Remote diagnostics (using tools to support platforms).
- Migration support (assisting with system or network migrations).
- Implement tools and techniques to monitor, identify, analyse and record systems performance in line with defined specifications.
- Maintain security of the network against potential threats.
- Apply tools and techniques to gather information to troubleshoot issues, isolate, repair or escalate faults.
- Communicate outcomes of tasks and record actions in line with organisational procedures.
- Upgrade, apply and test components to systems configurations ensuring the system meets the organisation's requirements and minimises downtime.
- Interpret information and specifications received from a manager, customer or technical specialist and accurately implement the defined requirements.
- Implement techniques to optimise systems or component performance in line with defined specifications.
- Prioritise and organise work tasks in line with SLAs and organisation processes, considering clients' or stakeholders' requests.
- Explain their job role within the business context to stakeholders to enable a clear understanding on both sides of what their remit is and convey technical constraints.
- Operate securely, and apply process, policies and legislation within their business responsibilities.
- Configure and maintain network addressing in line with customer requirements.
- Ensure compliance of network engineering outputs with change management processes including SASE or Zero-trust networking.
- Install and configure network components.
- Apply tools and techniques to monitor, identify, analyse and record systems performance in line with defined specifications.
