What you’ll be doing:
- Manage the annual corporation tax compliance cycle for ~40–45 BT Group subsidiaries, including statutory account disclosures and tax return submissions.
- Oversee iXBRL tagging of subsidiary accounts for tax return submissions, liaising with external providers.
- Calculate and analyze Group Controlled Foreign Companies charges, working with overseas tax managers to ensure correct claims and exemptions.
- Prepare and submit group corporation tax filings (e.g., group relief matrices, allowance allocation statements, payment arrangements, interest restriction returns).
- Handle corporate tax aspects of UK subsidiary liquidations and maintain HMRC administrative requirements.
- Assess tax implications of intragroup transactions (e.g., dividends, recapitalizations) and draft supporting documentation.
- Assist with RDEC claims and provide ad hoc tax advice and planning support.
- Support the development of the offshore compliance team in India.
The skills you’ll need:
- Detailed knowledge of the UK corporation tax regime and IFRS/FRS101 tax accounting.
- Communication of relevant tax issues to non-tax staff to ensure greater understanding and awareness of the tax effect of certain transactions and processes.
- Attention to detail, to support key internal decision making.
- Excellent project management skills to ensure prompt delivery of accountabilities.
- The ability to influence and educate non-tax stakeholders in a proactive manner to ensure that BT tax team is respected within the business.
- Fully qualified accountant and/or CIOT.
