The predicted salary is between 50000 - 60000 £ per year.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance. An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

About the role

From operating systems, build automation, deployment, monitoring, data storage, virtualisation and in‑life management and audit, you’ll be delivering the platforms that many of our deliveries depend upon. You’ll be deeply involved in the full engineering and test life‑cycle, including working directly with stakeholders to understand and capture requirements/user stories, through to integration, acceptance and customer sign‑off aligned to expectations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Be hands on in assurance of world class secure platforms, through the creation of high and low level test designs.
  • Use a multitude of automation techniques and technologies to improve the way in which we perform our deliveries.
  • Provide ongoing support for existing systems and maintaining compatibility against external developments.
  • Support delivery teams by providing assurance to ensure on time and high quality delivery.
  • Gathering information and presenting to stakeholders.
  • Provide technical coaching and mentoring to more junior team members.

Essential Skills / Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of writing automated test scripts and their execution, with associated test activities such as Defect Management, Test Case creation etc.
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of automation frameworks and tools, e.g. Robot Framework, Selenium, Postman and use of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.
  • Experience with a dedicated Test Management tool such as HP ALM, TestRail, X‑Ray etc.
  • Experience with different scripting languages, such as Powershell, Bash, Python or Java.
  • Knowledge of software methodologies such as Waterfall/V model, agile, lean, incremental.
  • Understanding of Databases and SQL e.g. MySql, Mongo, Postgres.
  • Broad understanding of networking fundamentals with particular focus on TCP/UDP and key application layer protocols such as TLS, HTTP and DNS.

Desirable Skills / Experience:

  • Some knowledge of big data technologies and associated tool sets e.g. Elastic search, SIEM etc.
  • Either qualified to degree level with some experience as a Technical Engineering professional, or significant experience of technical delivery.
