The predicted salary is between 60000 - 80000 £ per year.

Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you will be required to undergo DV (Developed Vetting) level Security Clearance. An allowance of £5k per annum may be payable monthly while you hold this DV and continue to work in a role that requires that level of security clearance. The terms of this allowance will be made available if you are successful in being recruited into this role.

This is a rare opportunity to shape and operate the platforms that power critical services at scale. You’ll lead the design, build, and ongoing evolution of a next-generation private cloud built on VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 9), enabling secure, resilient, and high-performance workloads for both internal teams and external customers. Your work will directly underpin services that matter—supporting critical national infrastructure and revenue-generating customer platforms—making a tangible impact on reliability, availability, and the speed at which new services can be delivered. From day one, you’ll influence platform stability, drive service excellence, and enable seamless onboarding of customer workloads in a high-stakes, high-impact environment.

This job role can be based in Ipswich, London, Cheltenham or Manchester. Due to security requirements, this role requires you to be located on site during your working hours. Mon‑Fri 37.5. DV Security Clearance is required. Must have lived in UK for 10+ years to obtain clearance.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Architecting and delivering next-generation BMS, CMS and CCTV systems
  • Driving automation‑first infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell)
  • Solving complex platform challenges across compute, storage, and networking
  • Collaborating with engineers, architects, and operations teams to deliver seamless, end‑to‑end services
  • Enhancing platform security, resilience, and performance at scale

Essential Experience:

  • Proven ability to lead the full lifecycle—design, build, commissioning, and live operations—of complex engineering or infrastructure systems.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Building Management Systems, Central Monitoring platforms, CCTV, or equivalent critical control environments.
  • Experience operating within high‑availability, mission‑critical environments where resilience, uptime, and security are non‑negotiable.
  • Deep understanding of physical and system security principles, with the ability to identify, mitigate, and manage operational risk.
  • Track record of driving automation and Infrastructure as Code, reducing manual intervention, and improving operational performance at scale.

Desirable Experience:

  • Networking, security, and identity management
  • Experience in regulated or customer‑critical environments
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
