The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 £ per year.

As an electrical engineer at BSW Timber you will be working under the leadership of our Engineering Manager and Engineering Team Leaders. You will bring your technical expertise to the team in helping to resolve faults, breakdowns and making effective repairs and replacements throughout the sawmill. You will undertake routine maintenance, electrical installations, small projects and breakdown cover across the site which consists of sawmilling processes as well as treatment and biomass facilities. You will play a key role in minimising downtime and maximising output for the site. Working in a team of three on a three weekly rotating shift pattern consisting of Morning, Afternoon & Night shifts (averaging 39 hours a week over a three-week period).

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, repair and/or replace specific equipment and parts across the site, including but not limited to Mechanical, Pneumatic, Hydraulic, Electrical and Electromechanical devices and machinery.
  • Undertake a variety of planned preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Assist with projects and continuous improvements across the site.
  • Carry out reactive maintenance and respond to breakdowns in a timely manner.
  • Provide a good sound level of fault finding and diagnostics on all equipment.
  • Identify areas for improvement on existing and new systems.
  • Diagnose and repair equipment breakdowns quickly and systematically to minimise downtime and production losses.
  • Maintain and install single phase, three phase and control circuits, such as industrial lighting and sockets, three phase motors and safety control circuits.
  • Provide training and support for apprentices and others when necessary.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Electrical background with a practical hands-on approach.
  • Technically minded with a high standard of work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of preventative maintenance systems.
  • Good time management.
  • Good approach to Health and Safety.

Desirable (but not essential)

  • Computer skills, such as Word and Excel knowledge.
  • PLC knowledge (Siemens, Beckhoff etc.).
  • 17th or 18th Edition IEE Regulations qualifications (or equivalent).
