Kiln Operator

  • Based In Dalbeattie
  • Days, Mon-Wed 12 hours, Thurs 6 hours (occasional weekend/nights as holiday cover)
  • Full-time / Permanent

In support of our continued and exciting growth, we are recruiting for a Kiln Operator at our Dalbeattie Mill. As a Kiln Operator, you will contribute towards the creation of quality timber products – on time and to specification.

Responsibilities

  • Loading and unloading timber into the kiln.
  • Monitor the kiln temperature and performance and ensure efficient operation and consistent production of quality products.
  • Routine maintenance and troubleshooting to address issues that arise during the firing process.
  • Working towards set production targets.
  • Upholding the appropriate Health & Safety practices.
  • Full Forklift mobile plant operation.

About you

We are seeking motivated individuals who are quality focused and understand the value of the goods they are producing. A degree of flexibility will be required to ensure operations are maximized, maintained and quality targets are met with minimum wastage. In addition, you will have:

  • Appreciation of quality and Health & Safety.
  • Good computer, numeracy, and literacy skills.
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Technical knowledge of kiln operations would be desirable but full training can be given.
  • Experience using Forklift mobile plant vehicles would be advantageous but full training can be given.
  • A full driving licence.
