As a SHE Business Partner, you will actively work with Site Management teams, with support from the Head of Health and Safety in the implementation of Health, Safety and Environment requirements, ensuring that company and legal standards are compliant across multiple sites.
Health & Safety
- Ensure site compliance against company SHE policy through monitoring, site audits, health checks, guidance, and support.
- Ensure all accidents and incidents are investigated in line with company procedures to establish root cause and implement sustainable preventative control measures.
- Manage notification and reporting of RIDDOR accidents to the Health and Safety Executive via SHE Management.
- Track and report weekly accident and incident corrective action completion rates, providing practical problemâsolving advice.
- Develop SHE policies and procedures aligned with company needs and legislative compliance.
- Develop and lead safety awareness through toolbox talks, safety alerts, and environmental alerts.
- Develop and maintain site emergency teams, including Fire Wardens and First Aiders, with all associated facilities.
- Undertake Risk Assessments and Fire Risk Assessments and support the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Work with Site Management to ensure control measures are implemented and maintained.
- Drive continuous improvement through effective leadership of HSCC meetings and action plans aligned to industry best practice.
- Oversee the development of an effective Health and Safety leadership team and Employee Safety Representatives across the region.
- Deliver key SHE objectives.
- Collate SHE audit data periodically and support sites in resolving identified actions.
- Provide practical and sustainable problem resolution to ensure a safe working environment.
- Develop and/or deliver SHE leadership development training programmes.
- Act as the SHE lead for the nominated region.
- Collate and analyse performance metrics to provide periodic SHE reports to line management, Directors, and Site Managers.
- Support business projects through review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, advising on SHE requirements.
- Log and monitor regional compliance with LOLER, DSEAR, COSHH (LEV), and PSSR.
- Liaise with external authorities where required.
Environmental
- Support site leadership to ensure environmental processes comply with UK legislative requirements.
- Coordinate with site management to drive waste reduction and recycling initiatives.
- Oversee site waste management and environmental record keeping.
Performance Measures
- Onâtime reporting of accidents and incidents.
- Completion of accident and incident investigations within specified timescales.
- Improvement of site audit scores.
- Updating and completion of Risk Assessments and SOPs.
- Reduction in accidents, lost days, and frequency rates.
- RIDDOR reduction and compliance reporting.
- Promotion of incident reporting and corrective actions.
- Management of statutory inspection compliance across the region.
- Support HSCC meetings.
- Periodic collation of regional SHE metrics.
- Delivery of Health, Safety and Environmental training.
- Management of environmental compliance across the region.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in an SHE role within a Manufacturing or Logistics environment.
- ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 auditing experience.
- Comprehensive understanding of Health and Safety legislation.
- Understanding of environmental aspects and impacts.
- Excellent people management and relationshipâbuilding skills.
- Comfortable working independently or as part of a team across diverse environments.
- Ideally a qualified member of a recognised HSE professional body (e.g. IOSH).
- Practical, handsâon approach with the ability to lead change.
Education / Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum).
- ISO Standard Internal Auditor qualification (minimum).
- NVQ Level 5 H&S or NEBOSH Diploma (desired).
- IEMA Level 3 Environmental qualification or equivalent (desired).
- Fire Risk Assessment qualification (desired).
- PUWER / DSEAR awareness (desired).
