Scott Pallets is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Technical Costings Trainee to join our Technical Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to develop technical, costing and commercial skills within one of the UK's leading pallet manufacturers. Full training will be provided.

About the Role

As a Technical Costings Trainee, you will support the Technical Team in preparing product costings, specifications and commercial information that help the business deliver competitive quotations and excellent customer service.

You will gain hands-on experience in:

• Product costing and pricing analysis
• Technical specifications and product design
• Manufacturing processes and materials
• Customer quotations and tenders
• Data management and commercial administration

This role offers a structured development pathway and exposure to multiple areas of the business, including Sales, Production, Planning and Quality.

What You'll Be Doing

Costing Support

• Assist in preparing product costings for customer quotations
• Input and maintain costing data within company systems and spreadsheets
• Support pricing updates and costing documentation
• Gather information from production, procurement and sales teams

Technical Support

• Assist with the preparation and maintenance of product specifications
• Learn how pallet designs are developed to meet customer requirements
• Help maintain accurate technical records and documentation
• Support technical data collection for quotations and tenders

Administration & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records and databases
• Organise technical and costing documentation
• Assist in producing reports, spreadsheets and presentations
• Support the department with day-to-day administrative tasks

Learning & Development

• Develop knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials
• Understand how costs are influenced by labour, materials and operational factors
• Participate in structured training and development programmes
• Build commercial and technical knowledge across the business

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Educated to National 5, Higher, A-Level or equivalent
• Strong numerical and analytical skills
• Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication skills
• Willingness to learn and develop
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic

Desirable

• Qualification in Engineering, Business, Mathematics, Manufacturing, Construction or a related subject
• Previous experience using Excel for calculations and data entry
• Interest in manufacturing, engineering, technical design or costing
• Any previous work experience, placement or apprenticeship
