We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of complex engineering projects across industrial, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for leading electrical design activities from concept through detailed design, ensuring technical excellence, compliance with industry standards, and successful project delivery within agreed timescales. This is an excellent opportunity for a contract engineer with strong technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of electrical engineering designs and specifications.
  • Produce and review electrical design calculations, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Design LV power distribution systems, control systems, and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Prepare cable schedules, load calculations, equipment specifications, and design deliverables.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and process engineering disciplines.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant UK regulations, standards, and client requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and technical meetings.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers where required.
  • Support procurement activities through technical evaluations and vendor liaison.
  • Manage project priorities and deliverables to meet programme deadlines.
  • Assist with site surveys, inspections, commissioning activities, and technical troubleshooting when required.
Essential Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience in electrical design engineering within industrial, manufacturing, utilities, infrastructure, or building services environments.
  • Proven experience delivering projects in a senior or lead engineering capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant UK electrical standards.
  • Proficiency in electrical design software and CAD packages.
  • Experience producing electrical calculations and technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple project priorities.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards chartership.
  • Experience with power system studies and electrical analysis software.
  • Knowledge of IEC, BS EN, and other international engineering standards.
  • Previous consultancy experience.
  • Experience supporting commissioning and site installation activities.
