The Senior BIM Coordinator / BIM Manager (MEP) is responsible for leading and managing Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes across mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) projects. The role ensures the delivery of coordinated, high-quality digital models and associated project information in line with client requirements, BIM standards, and project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead BIM delivery on MEP projects from concept through construction.
- Manage and coordinate multidisciplinary BIM models.
- Develop and implement BIM Execution Plans (BEPs).
- Ensure compliance with ISO 19650 standards and client BIM requirements.
- Establish and maintain BIM standards, workflows, and quality assurance procedures.
- Mentor and support BIM Coordinators, BIM Technicians, and Engineers.
- Drive continuous improvement in digital engineering practices.
Model Coordination
- Coordinate MEP systems with architectural, structural, and specialist disciplines.
- Conduct clash detection and model validation using coordination software.
- Chair and lead BIM coordination meetings.
- Review and approve model deliverables prior to issue.
- Resolve design coordination issues proactively.
Technical Delivery
- Produce and manage federated BIM models.
- Ensure accurate asset data and information management.
- Oversee model LOD/LOI compliance.
- Support construction sequencing and digital workflows.
- Manage Common Data Environment (CDE) processes.
Software & Digital Tools
- Advanced use of:
- Autodesk Revit MEP
- Navisworks Manage
- AutoCAD
- BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Dynamo (desirable)
- Solibri (desirable)
Required Qualifications
- Degree/HNC/HND in Building Services Engineering, BIM, Construction, or related discipline.
- BIM certification or relevant industry accreditation desirable.
- Minimum 5–8 years’ experience in BIM coordination within MEP/building services.
- Strong understanding of UK BIM standards and ISO 19650.
- Experience working on large commercial, healthcare, residential, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
