Junior Electrical Engineer Location: Essex Job Type: Full-time Experience Level: Junior About the Role We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Junior Electrical Engineer to join our growing team in Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer looking to build their experience within the building services and MEP industry. You will work alongside experienced electrical engineers and technicians, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of projects while developing your technical knowledge and professional skills. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, technically minded and keen to develop a long-term career within electrical building services. The Role As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will assist with the design, development and delivery of electrical building services projects. Working under the guidance of senior engineers, you will support the preparation of electrical designs, calculations, drawings and technical documentation. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with CAD technicians, mechanical engineers, project managers and other members of the design team. Key Responsibilities Assist with the design of electrical building services installations. Support senior engineers with project calculations, specifications and technical documentation. Assist with electrical load calculations and equipment selection. Produce and review electrical drawings and schematics. Work closely with CAD technicians to develop coordinated electrical layouts. Assist with lighting, small power, containment and distribution system designs. Support the preparation of technical reports, schedules and specifications. Assist with site surveys and inspections where required. Review drawings and technical information to identify potential issues. Coordinate electrical services with architectural, structural and mechanical information. Attend project meetings and assist with technical discussions. Liaise with suppliers, contractors and other members of the project team when required. Maintain accurate project records and documentation. Ensure work is completed in accordance with relevant UK standards, regulations and project requirements. Develop knowledge of current electrical engineering practices and building services standards. Essential Skills & Experience Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline . Some experience or placement experience within electrical engineering or building services is desirable. Basic understanding of electrical building services systems. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and technical information. Good mathematical and analytical skills. Strong attention to detail. Good IT and communication skills. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively to a team. A willingness to learn and develop technically. Full UK driving licence is desirable. Desirable Skills Experience with AutoCAD . Familiarity with Revit / BIM . Understanding of lighting and small power design. Knowledge of electrical distribution systems. Familiarity with BS 7671 and relevant UK electrical standards. Experience using electrical design or calculation software.
