An exciting opportunity has opened up for a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a growing Building Services consultancy based in South London. This is a senior-level role for someone who enjoys both design delivery and being close to the project action, with the flexibility to shape their schedule and real input into how things are run.
You will be working in a tight-knit, multi-disciplinary team delivering premium residential and commercial fit-out projects, including landmark buildings and private developments. The pipeline is busy, the director is hands-on and present, and the culture is all about getting things done well and efficiently without the red tape of larger firms.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and coordination of electrical building services systems (LV power, lighting, fire alarms, containment, etc.)
- Manage multiple projects from concept to completion
- Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers, architects, contractors, and clients
- Oversee junior engineers and mentor where needed
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and client meetings
- Ensure designs are compliant with UK regulations and best practices (BS7671, CIBSE, etc.)
- Deliver technically robust, aesthetically sensitive solutions suited to high-end environments
- Minimum 7+ years experience in electrical building services design
- Strong portfolio of delivering high-end residential and/or commercial projects in the UK
- Excellent working knowledge of current British Standards and Building Regs
- Experience using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Dialux, Relux, Amtech)
- Proactive, delivery-focused attitude – someone who can work independently and take initiative
- Confident communicator with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Based in or familiar with the South London region (ideal, not essential)
- Hybrid working – flexibility to balance office and remote
- Outstanding project portfolio – from luxury homes to iconic London sites
