An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Lighting Designer to join a growing, multidisciplinary building services consultancy with offices across Oxford, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cambridge. The consultancy delivers innovative solutions across Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health (MEP) Engineering, Specialist Lighting Design, Sustainability, Building Physics and Passivhaus consultancy. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior lighting professional looking to take the next step in their career within an expanding consultancy. You'll play a key role in leading lighting design projects from concept through to completion, managing client relationships, mentoring team members and helping to grow the lighting discipline.

The successful candidate will have experience leading teams, managing resources effectively and delivering multiple projects to programme and budget. You'll also be confident representing the business in meetings with clients, architects, engineers and contractors across the UK, with occasional overseas travel where required. Experience across multiple sectors is essential, with heritage and conservation projects being particularly advantageous.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience within a professional lighting design role
  • Proven experience leading lighting design projects and managing teams
  • Knowledge and experience working on historic and listed buildings
  • Strong client-facing experience with architects, surveyors, contractors and consultants
  • Ability to manage projects independently with minimal supervision
  • Excellent knowledge of current SLL Guidelines and lighting standards
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Collaborative, proactive and solution-focused approach
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in lighting design software, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence (or access to transport) is desirable due to occasional travel to project sites

Desirable

  • Experience using Revit
  • Experience producing Lighting Impact Assessments
  • Knowledge of BIM workflows
