Large construction company based in Herefordshire / Watford WD25 is looking for a skilled and experienced Van Mechanic for a full-time permanent position, working directly for the company.
The successful applicant will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a busy fleet mostly Ford Transit vans, light commercial vehicles and company lorries. Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out full and interim vehicle servicing
- Engine repairs & replacements
- Gearbox, clutch and transmission repairs
- Brake system repairs including discs, pads, calipers and hydraulic faults
- Suspension and steering repairs
- Timing belt and timing chain replacement work
- Cooling system repairs including radiators, water pumps and thermostats
- Fuel system diagnostics and injector repairs
- Electrical fault finding and diagnostics using diagnostic equipment
- Repairing wiring faults, lighting systems and electrical components
- MOT preparation and vehicle inspections
- Welding, fabrication and general mechanical repairs where required
- Diagnosing faults quickly and efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime
- Maintaining accurate service and repair records
- Ensuring all fleet vehicles remain roadworthy and compliant with safety regulations
- Carrying out preventative maintenance and inspections across the fleet
Experience working on Ford Transit vans preferred. Good diagnostic and fault-finding abilities are essential, along with a proven track record with previous employers. The candidate should be reliable, hard-working and able to manage daily workshop demands. All fleet vehicles are under 3 to 4 years old. PAYE or self-employed options are available.
