Safeguarding Lead
Take a leading role in implementing BSS’s safeguarding and child protection policies, ensuring that any issues involving children and young people are addressed appropriately and effectively. Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) at the centre, recording and following up on safeguarding concerns and escalating them when necessary. Training will be provided during induction to prepare the postholder for these responsibilities.

Administrative Performance Management
Supervise the Centre Administrator with clarity and professionalism, maintaining oversight of their performance and providing support and guidance. Ensure that all administrative systems—check‑in, pocket money, check‑out—operate efficiently and that BSS’s Data Protection requirements are fully upheld and correctly implemented.

Welfare Performance Management
Provide effective oversight of the Welfare Manager, offering regular evaluation, mentoring, and guidance to maintain high standards of care. Safeguard the delivery of medical, welfare, and pastoral care that meets or exceeds expectations, and ensure compliance with BSS’s Welfare, Child Protection, and Health & Safety policies.

Academic Performance Management
Lead the Director of Studies, ensuring their work is monitored and guided. Oversee Teaching and Learning standards, aligning them with BSS’s marketing promises and consistently meeting or surpassing British Council requirements.

Leisure & Social Programme Management
Support the Activities Manager with performance monitoring and constructive feedback. Ensure activities—sports, arts, drama, pro‑options, and excursions—are of exceptional quality and reflect BSS’s values.

Staff Management
Guide staff in a professional, supportive manner, providing encouragement and the tools they need. Coordinate schedules and shifts, respecting role‑specific hours and ensuring no team member exceeds contracted working times.

Communication
Maintain personal liaison with parents and agents on incidents of unacceptable student behaviour and other concerns. Provide timely updates to ensure clear, professional communication and uphold BSS’s reputation for excellence and transparency.

Cash Management
Oversee all cash at the centre, including budgets and students’ pocket money. Handle cash securely and confidentially, adhering strictly to all cash handling policies.

Risk Assessments & Policies
Confirm that detailed risk assessments are in place and reviewed by relevant staff. Collaborate with the health and safety coordinator to update assessments as needed, ensuring safe lesson delivery and compliance with safety policies.

Fire Safety
Ensure staff and students know fire exit routes and assembly points, receive clear guidance on fire policies, and conduct weekly fire drills to maintain compliance with BSS’s Fire Safety policies.

Pastoral Support
Work with the Welfare team to provide consistent, high‑quality welfare care. Monitor student well‑being, handling minor issues directly and escalating serious concerns to the Welfare Manager or Centre Manager.

Medication Administration
In the absence of the Welfare Manager, dispense prescribed and over‑the‑counter medication following BSS policies and medical guidance, maintaining accurate records.

Student Behaviour Management
Observe and manage student conduct, responding immediately to bullying or aggressive behaviour. Promote a safe, inclusive community where every student feels respected.

Host School Management
Ensure host school departments—Lettings, Catering, Domestic, Facilities—receive necessary information to fulfil their duties and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, enhancing ongoing support for BSS.

British Council
Ensure all Teaching and Learning criteria set by the British Council are consistently met and, where possible, exceeded through monitoring, guidance, and quality assurance, maintaining BSS’s academic reputation and accreditation.

Emergencies
Respond to emergencies occurring during non‑working hours in the Boarding House, taking appropriate action to ensure safety for all students and staff.

Transfers
Coordinate student arrivals and departures, ensuring prompt greetings, efficient check‑in/out, and well‑managed transport, with appropriate staff assigned.

Social Media Photography & Video
Delegate responsibility to a staff member for capturing high‑quality footage of lessons, activities, evening entertainment, and excursions using BSS recording devices.

Centre Requirements
Help ensure the centre is set up effectively and stocked as required by the Head Office team. All duties are subject to change at the discretion of the Managing Director.

Personal Specification
