About the role:
We are looking for a highly organised Instrumentation Operations Manager to lead administrative and logistics functions for the Instrumentation business, providing structure, coordination, and operational control across service delivery activities. The role partners closely with laboratory and commercial interfaces across the organisation to ensure clarity, continuity, and effective execution from order through to delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership & Management: Lead and manage the administration and logistics team supporting the instrumentation business, setting clear expectations for delivery, quality, and responsiveness. Provide clear direction, priorities, and expectations across activities, ensuring work progresses efficiently and issues/risk are highlighted and addressed early. Build resilience across the team by upskilling personnel, developing cross-coverage, and strengthening capability across core operational activities. Set clear expectations for performance, quality, and service standards. Coordinate workload planning to facilitate effective coverage, continuity, and responsiveness. Support team development through coaching, feedback, and skills development. Promote a collaborative, professional culture that values accountability, accuracy, and service execution. Deputise for senior management when required.
- Communication & Stakeholder Management: Act as the senior operational point of contact for stakeholders engaging with the instrumentation business. Work closely with laboratory and technical teams to align priorities, timelines, and delivery expectations. Ensure operational considerations are clearly represented in cross-functional discussions and decision-making. Communicate operational risks, constraints, and dependencies early and clearly. Support consistent understanding of service scope, readiness, and delivery commitments across the organisation.
- Customer & Market Focus: Ensure operational activity underpins a reliable and professional customer experience. Maintain a strong understanding of service commitments and delivery expectations. Support effective coordination of customer requirements across operational teams. Contribute operational insight to strengthen service quality and customer confidence. Identify opportunities to improve the operational aspects of customer delivery.
- Performance, Reporting & Processes: Maintain visibility of operational workload, priorities, and delivery status. Monitor key operational metrics including turnaround times, accuracy, and capacity. Provide concise reporting to support planning, resourcing, and service delivery decisions. Own and maintain clear, repeatable operational processes supporting instrumentation services. Ensure effective coordination of logistics activities including picking, packing, dispatch and tracking. Ensure smooth progression of quotations and scheduling by coordinating internal resources.
- Safety, Quality & Risk Management: Comply with legal requirements, industry regulations and company policies that are related to health and safety, quality (ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 9001) and operational risks.

Qualifications & Experience: Proven experience in an operations, logistics, or service delivery management role. Experience leading teams across administration and logistics functions. Strong understanding of operational workflows and coordination. Experience supporting quotation, order management, and service scheduling processes. Comfortable working closely with laboratory or technical teams. Background in instrumentation, engineering, or technical services desirable. Relevant professional or vocational qualifications desirable.
