Are you an experienced renewable energy professional with a proven track record of delivering onshore wind projects through planning and consent?
We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager – Onshore Wind Development to lead the development and delivery of large-scale onshore wind and renewable energy projects.
Reporting to the Head of Project Development, you will be responsible for driving projects from inception through to planning consent, discharge of conditions, securing all necessary permits and consents, and achieving shovel-ready status ahead of construction.
This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering projects that support the UK’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable energy future.
This role can be based in Somerset or London on a hybrid basis.
What You’ll Be Doing
As Senior Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing the entire project development lifecycle, ensuring projects are progressed in line with planning policy, environmental requirements, grid constraints, legislation, commercial objectives and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading onshore wind development projects from site identification and feasibility through to consent and construction readiness.
- Ensuring health and safety is at the forefront of all decision-making, embracing our commitment to Everyone Safe Always.
- Coordinating multidisciplinary internal teams and external consultants across planning, environmental, engineering, land, legal, grid, public relations and community engagement disciplines.
- Managing planning applications, planning variations, environmental assessments and all associated consent documentation.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with landowners, local authorities, communities and key stakeholders.
- Supporting the management of land rights and agreements required to facilitate project delivery.
- Managing project budgets and ensuring the efficient use of resources.
- Coordinating site visits and intrusive survey works in line with company health and safety standards.
- Overseeing the discharge of planning conditions and securing additional consents and permits required before construction can commence.
- Maintaining project programmes, risk registers, action trackers and governance reporting to ensure clear visibility of project progress, risks and key milestones.
- Applying strong commercial, planning, legal, technical and construction awareness to support successful project delivery.
- Providing line management and support to Project Managers within the team.
- What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from candidates who have experience leading onshore wind projects through the development and planning process and are comfortable managing multiple complex workstreams simultaneously.
- You’ll Bring
- Proven experience in onshore wind development project management within a developer, renewable energy business or consultancy environment.
- A strong understanding of the complete onshore wind development lifecycle, including feasibility, design evolution, planning strategy, environmental assessment, land, grid, stakeholder engagement and consent delivery.
- Essential experience delivering onshore wind projects through the planning consent process.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants.
- Strong programme, budget and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify, manage and elevate project risks, constraints and opportunities.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Confidence working with technical information, planning documentation and project controls.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and a commitment to delivering successful outcomes.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative leadership style.

- Recognised Project Management qualification, such as APM.
Desirable
- Qualifications in renewable energy, environmental disciplines, planning, engineering or a related field.
