Role purpose

The Head of Distribution will lead the strategic development, growth, and performance of Bspoke’s Intermediated distribution channels, Broker and Coverholder. This role carries responsibility for defining and executing the distribution strategy, strengthening broker relationships, identifying new growth opportunities, enhancing scheme and product proposition delivery, and ensuring distribution activity supports Bspoke’s commercial, regulatory, and customer outcomes objectives. Working in close partnership with underwriting, product, marketing, compliance, and operational teams, the role ensures a coordinated, insight‑driven, and high‑quality broker experience that drives sustainable and profitable growth.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Bspoke’s Intermediated distribution strategy to deliver profitable and sustainable growth across its chosen target lines and markets.
  • Define market engagement priorities, segmentation, value propositions, and commercial frameworks for key broker segments.
  • Lead distribution planning, forecasting, and reporting for senior leadership.
  • Lead and manage the key strategic partnerships, building trusted relationships and ensuring exceptional partner experience.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new broker, coverholder, affinity, or scheme opportunities aligned with underwriting appetite.
  • Strengthen retention and performance of existing relationships through structured account planning and service commitments. Ensuring there is alignment between the Business Development team and the Development Underwriters within each division.
  • Alongside the MDs, lead commercial negotiations on remuneration structures, scheme terms, and delegated authority frameworks.
  • Work closely with the MDs and their respective underwriting and product teams to shape our propositions and refine appetite.
  • Work closely with marketing to deliver compelling broker and coverholder‑focused campaigns and a suite of tools and resources that support our partners and enable growth.
  • Oversee monitoring of distribution performance, analysing KPIs such as loss ratios, conversion, retention, and revenue growth.
  • Ensure all new broker, coverholder and scheme activity meets FCA regulatory expectations, including Consumer Duty and product governance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the central distribution team to foster a high‑performance sales culture.
  • Represent Bspoke at industry events, conferences, and networks to enhance brand presence.

Skills & Knowledge required

Essential

  • Strong commercial and relationship‑management skills with experience managing senior broker and coverholder relationships.
  • In‑depth understanding of Commercial, Private Clients and/or Specialty insurance products, schemes, and delegated authority models.
  • Proven ability to identify and convert new distribution opportunities and affinity or scheme partnerships.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing capability.
  • High level of commercial acumen with the ability to analyse performance metrics and drive improvements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational abilities with capability to manage multiple strategic priorities.
  • Good understanding of FCA regulatory expectations including Consumer Duty and product governance.

Desirable

  • Experience in an MGA environment or delegated authority setting.
  • Experience with CRM and pipeline management tools.
  • Aware of digital distribution models and broker‑led digital engagement.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

  • Significant experience in senior distribution, broker development, or commercial leadership roles within insurance.
  • Demonstrable success developing and executing broker or partner growth strategies.
  • Track record of managing complex commercial negotiations and performance frameworks.
  • Experience collaborating with underwriting to shape propositions and support scheme development.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted senior‑level relationships across the broker market.

Desirable

  • Experience working within an MGA, insurer, or delegated authority model.
  • Experience launching new schemes, products, or affinity propositions.
  • Professional insurance qualifications (e.g., Cert CII, Dip CII).
  • Experience representing an organisation at industry events.
