The post holder will lead the team of nursing Trauma Coordinators and Trauma Aides. Manage the coordination of adult and paediatric patients within the Trauma and Orthopaedic Units, focusing on improving quality and enhancing access. Provide effective and efficient management of these patients allowing for safe and timely operative procedure.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure all patients admitted to the Trauma Unit or service, are appropriately assessed, investigations ordered and treatment commenced in line with protocols, policies and procedures.
  • To liaise with the Ward Manager, admitting medical staff in the Trauma Unit and feeder hospitals, and patient flow team to ensure effective planning of beds and theatre for trauma patients.
  • Act as a clinical expert and professional resource to the multi-disciplinary team within the Trauma Unit.
  • Liaise closely with members of the multi-disciplinary team to improve channels of communication, allow maximum utilisation of resources, and promote continuity and co-ordination in the Trauma Unit and feeder hospitals.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 years experience working as a Registered Nurse in Trauma and Orthopaedics, 2 years of which should be at band 6 or above.
  • Registered on part 1 of the NMC register (Adult).
