The post holder under the direction of the Theatres, Anaesthetic, and Recovery Clinical Education Facilitator will be responsible for implementing education and practice development within the perioperative and recovery area. She/he will collaborate with key individuals, including the Theatres, Anaesthetic, and Recovery Clinical Education Facilitator, Sister/Charge Nurse and Team Leaders to provide sufficient expertise within the perioperative unit. The post holder will provide/help facilitate work-based learning focused on enabling staff to work in a person centred approach. She/he will play a key role in implementing education and development within the perioperative environment in an innovative way. Post 50% education and 50% clinical.

Responsibilities

  • Act as an effective clinical role model.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base, ensuring professional and clinical credibility. This will involve working and role modelling as a practitioner in the department and involve participating in the internal rotation system as required.
  • Participate in and support the involvement of the Theatres, Anaesthetic and Recovery staff in audit activities.
  • Role model person centred practices to others.
  • Ensure regular evaluation of effectiveness of own roles.
  • Demonstrate leadership and clinical expertise when supervising junior registered staff, or non-registered staff, in all aspects of care.
  • Ensure that staff have the knowledge, skills and resources to carry out care delegated to them.

Skills and Qualifications

  • RN 1 on NMC Register.
  • Have 3 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a perioperative and recovery setting.
  • Have a relevant post registration qualification in perioperative and recovery nursing.
  • Degree in Nursing Practice/Healthcare.
  • Have 3 years’ experience in role of scrub, circulating, anaesthetics and recovery.
