The Psychiatry of Old Age Liaison Service is situated in the Department of Liaison Psychiatry at the Royal Victoria Hospital and is part of the Mental Health Services for Older People in The Belfast Trust. The service covers all acute beds within the Belfast Trust, totalling over 2000 beds. The team forms part of a planned and integrated whole system approach to Older People’s care that is delivered in conjunction with Psychiatry of Old Age, Integrated Care teams, Community Mental Health Team Older People (CMHTOP) and partnership arrangements with voluntary and community agencies.

Responsibilities

  • To work collaboratively with the Liaison Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • The post holder will assess patients referred from identified Older Person Wards within the Belfast Trust Acute General Hospitals who present with Mental Health needs, to inform and support multi-disciplinary care planning and case management.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5 years' post registration experience, with 2 years at Band 6.
