In order to meet the overall mission of the Trust the post holder will:

  • Assist the Clinical Trials and Procurement Pharmacist in managing and developing the Pharmacy Clinical Trials services across SET.
  • Undertake clinical trial set-up and provide continued support for the running and maintenance of current trial activity.
  • Deliver a safe, efficient and cost-effective Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service through the provision of education and training, procedures, policies and guidelines.
  • Assist with the delivery of the day-to-day running of the clinical trials dispensing service and ensure that clinical trials are supplied and monitored according to agreed governance framework and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Maintain and enhance effective working partnership with clinical trial partners, site investigators, research personnel, the Research Office, and other support services to provide a comprehensive process for delivering the Pharmacy Clinical Trial Service.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise effectively with relevant parties regarding the initiation, maintenance and closure of clinical trials, taking into account available Pharmacy resources to support research and development activities.
  • Write, review, approve and update pharmacy clinical trial information sheets and procedures, and prepare pharmacy clinical trial folders.
  • Prepare accountability logs and dose preparation worksheets for any new clinical trial regimens being set-up and check any pharmacy specific relevant paperwork before a trial opens for recruitment as necessary.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years' post registration experience of which 18 months (by 31 March 2026).
  • MPharm or equivalent.
  • Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland or eligible for membership.
  • Completed and passed a recognised vocational training programme and/or have a postgraduate certificate in an area of pharmacy relevant to this post will allow post holder to commence as band 7.
  • To progress to band 7 candidates must complete and pass a recognised vocational training programme and/or have a postgraduate certificate in an area of pharmacy relevant to this post within 12 months of appointment.
  • Able to attend the Ulster Pharmacy within 45 minutes if called to attend whilst on call.
