ANP Colposcopy and Hysteroscopy Inclusive of Trainee Route
The post holder will start off to develop the skills in Colposcopy and when competent in that skill they will then take on training for Hysteroscopy. It is recognised that there will be capacity within the remit of the post holder to carry out both roles.The Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) will be a highly experienced and expert member of the Gynaecology multidisciplinary team, providing person-centred care and practising autonomously within their expanded scope of practice. The ANP will use their expert knowledge and complex decision making skills, guided by The Code and the Principles for Advanced Practice . They are accountable for the total episode of care for patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed needs and this is shaped by the context of their clinical practice.The ANP will reflect the standards set out by British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP), the British Society of Gynaecological Endoscopists (BSGE), the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and demonstrate all four pillars of the Advanced Nurse Practice Framework.In addition, the ANP must demonstrate the ability to work at an advanced level and be able to apply competencies in the key areas of their scope of practice.
Responsibilities
- Practice autonomously, using a person-centred approach within gynaecology, specialising in nurse-led colposcopy initially and then hysteroscopy.
- Assimilates risk/ benefits and rationalises decisions based on extensive knowledge, skills and experience.
- Lead on population health, consider the wider determinants of health to safeguard and promote wellbeing, protect health, reduce inequalities and prevent ill health in relation to service requirements.
Skills and Qualifications
- Registered Nurse on Part 1 (Adult) of the live NMC register.
- Member of the British Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (BSCCP).
