BSL Care is growing and we are looking for a confident, hands-on Operations Manager to join us at an exciting stage of our journey. This role is fully operational and on-site. It suits someone who enjoys being visible in services, supporting managers, building strong teams and ensuring high-quality, consistent care. You will manage Registered Managers, strengthen and stabilise services, support CQC readiness, work closely with HR and Referrals and play a key role in building The BSL Way – our clear and consistent way of working across all services. For the right person, this role offers genuine progression into Head of Operations.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead and manage Registered Managers across multiple services
  • Strengthen high-performing services and stabilise any that are struggling
  • Act as interim manager when required
  • Be visible, present and known across services
  • Quality, Compliance and CQC
  • Lead preparation for CQC inspections and attend key inspections
  • Oversee safeguarding, incidents, risks and governance processes
  • Lead audits, compliance cycles and quality improvements
  • Support NAS, PBS, RRN and CQC accreditation work
  • People, Culture and HR
  • Work closely with HR on staffing, performance and culture
  • Support disciplinaries, probations and capability processes
  • Identify and develop future leaders
  • Build strong relationships with staff, families and commissioners
  • Referrals and Growth
  • Partner with the Referrals team on placement decisions
  • Ensure homes are ready for placements and commissioner visits
  • Support safe mobilisation of new services across the Midlands
  • Systems and The BSL Way
  • Review existing processes, policies, training and documentation
  • Remove duplication and inconsistencies
  • Build and implement Structures and Processes
  • Create clear operating manuals, routines and standards
  • Ensure managers consistently follow agreed ways of working
  • Reporting and Oversight
  • Provide clear monthly reports to Directors
  • Highlight risks, performance issues, staffing challenges and progress

  • Senior operational experience in Learning Disabilities and Autism services
  • Proven experience managing managers across multiple services
  • Strong CQC knowledge and inspection experience
  • A calm, confident approach to crisis and incident management
  • A hands-on, visible leadership style
  • A system-driven and process-focused mindset
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to travel regularly across the Midlands
