The Commercial Manager role is primarily focused on driving BSI's sales growth for Product Certification (PC) activities within the UK&I, including the management of sales personnel. The role is responsible for identifying and managing commercial opportunities, building, and maintaining relationships with key clients to understand their business needs and drivers, positioning BSI as a preferred supplier of PC solution services to clients, and achieving key financial objectives.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Provide direction and leadership to UK&I PC sales teams, including motivating, engaging, managing, developing and training.
- Input to budget setting, deliver budget revenues and cost control, and provide regular accurate business forecasts.
- Develop and proactively pursue innovative plans to identify prospective new clients, develop the market, and grow sales, including supporting local marketing initiatives and attending exhibitions, trade shows, etc.
- Identify opportunities for potential new services and support the development of robust business cases.
- Support the development and commercial launch of new BSI products within the sales teams.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- Excellent communication, collaboration, sales, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Well-developed people skills, including previous experience of managing a field sales team.
- Highly commercial approach, business acumen and a proven track record of successful business-to-business new sales experience of services rather than products.
- Excellent relationship-building skills and the ability to engage positively with C-Suite decision makers.
- Positive, engaging, motivational and developmental leadership approach.
- Business level verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Desirable: Experience of managing a P&L ledger, budgeting and forecasting.
