We are hiring for a Junior Enterprise Architect to join us permanently working on a hybrid basis between home and our London office once per week. In this role you will support the Enterprise Architecture function within the IT directorate’s Enterprise Architecture Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintaining, promoting, and encouraging adoption of and adherence to enterprise architecture policies, standards, guidelines, strategies and templates.
  • Day‑to‑day management and continual improvement of our architecture repository, promoting adoption and reuse of assets; building and modifying assets as needed.
  • Responsible for monitoring the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies, products, services, methods, and techniques (especially relating to AI and sustainability).
  • Contribute to reports and technology roadmaps that articulate the direction of BSI.
  • Contribute to the assessment and testing of new products, services for BSI.
  • Responsible for maintaining databases relevant to our technology landscape.
  • Build knowledge of organisation objectives, issues and opportunities, and consider how IT should be embedded to support, address and exploit them. Seek and gain stakeholder involvement and support into the strategic planning process with the wider EA team.
  • Support the development of an application strategy, building on understanding of business needs, existing IT capabilities and an understanding of future requirements, marrying all relevant organisation objectives with achievable IT goals.
  • Contribute to the creation of IT and business strategies, specifying requirements, highlighting best practice, and conducting options appraisals to identify the business costs, benefits and risks of delivery strategies.
  • Review new applications and services, identifying budgetary, legislative, regulatory, policy, technical and staffing constraints, costs and expected benefits. Plan include identification and assessment of business risks, working closely with the business relationship management function and sponsors across business divisions. Escalate non‑compliant applications.
  • Responsible for communicating and promoting the enterprise architecture function and architectural artefacts internally, ensuring the available content meets stakeholder needs where possible and demand for new artefacts is managed on backlog. Build communication plans and feedback mechanisms to ensure this is successful.
  • Keep in touch with developments in enterprise architecture practices within BSI, wider industry and appropriate professional and trade bodies through various means including news articles, conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Provide, or redirect to, expert advice, both reactively and proactively, to those engaged in activities where enterprise architecture is applicable within IT.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within architecture.
  • Knowledge of platform‑based architecture, data modelling, MDM, data governance, integration patterns, API architecture.
  • Experience supporting systems of record and maintaining accurate records.
  • Aligning an organisation's technology strategy with its business mission, strategy, and processes and stating this using (architectural) models and roadmaps.
  • Experience identifying and assessing emerging technologies, products, or services and bringing them into an organisation.
  • Experience analysing and proactive management of business demand for new or changed services.
  • Ability to work independently using their own initiative to effectively manage tasks.
  • Experience creating meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, internal clients, and vendors.
