The Head of Group Sustainable Operations will support BSI to deliver its sustainability strategy. The role will be leading the delivery of BSI’s sustainability strategy and plans, particularly for net zero, inspiring, motivating and working closely with colleagues across BSI’s operations to implement sustainability improvements across the environmental sustainability spectrum, and measure the impact of interventions.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, engage, develop and empower the team to achieve individual and team goals that support the business strategy (line managing the Group Sustainable Operations Manager and the Group Sustainability Analyst).
  • Work with internal stakeholders to further integrate sustainability into BSI’s operations and processes. Key stakeholders include procurement, compliance, facilities, IT, marketing and finance. This includes supporting the properties team on the purchase of RECs and green energy.
  • Suggest and implement relevant standards and BSI commercial solutions to improve performance as appropriate.
  • Maintain ongoing compliance to standards (e.g. ISO14064-1, Net zero pathway, ISO14068-1, etc.).
  • Ensure data and case studies are collated from across BSI operations globally. This includes driving and supporting data improvement projects in our global expenses and reporting systems and working closely with the engagement branch of the OSE team on engaging communications.
  • Maintain carbon neutral status through credible offsets in line with our principles.
  • Support external ESG reporting (e.g. TCFD, CSRD).
  • Bring and highlight opportunities for continuous improvement, innovative solutions and industry leading practice.
  • Support the Director of Group Sustainability and undertake related ad hoc tasks and projects as required.
