What are you looking for? Do you understand the importance of testing products and/or services primarily for safety, efficiency, and fit for purpose? Because of a huge period of growth we are looking for a Test Engineer to join our existing teams and carry out mechanical focused testing across a wide range of products within either our “Life Protection” or “Fire Suppression Systems” departments.

The Test Engineer Will:

  • Conduct client visits (onsite and offsite – UK, Europe, Worldwide).
  • Liaise with clients and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service and on‑time delivery of all work and projects.
  • Respond to customer queries and provide technical support.
  • Develop technical skills to enhance own capabilities and ability to carry out testing work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment, standards and client bespoke requirements.
  • Test in line with specific standards, procedures or client needs.
  • Maintain traceable records and results.
  • Produce project status and quality test reports.
  • Liaise with the calibration department on the maintenance and use of the correct equipment to carry out testing.
  • Report and elevate issues in testing that impact performance or quality of results.
  • Collaborate and communicate with colleagues, suppliers, locations and clients to facilitate a seamless service through the whole BSI supply chain.

To be successful in the role, you should possess the following:

  • A minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent in a Mechanical Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience in a test environment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Positive, customer‑focused approach to work and communication with colleagues.
  • Good level of computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Office or equivalent.
  • Strong writing skills – to write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work as an individual or as part of a team to tight time scales.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with Lean culture and tools.
  • Knowledge of 17025 is advantageous.
