We are seeking a skilled Calibration Engineer to support the delivery of accurate, reliable and compliant calibration services across our product testing laboratory. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the availability, accuracy and traceability of measuring equipment; helping to maintain the integrity of testing operations and our compliance with high quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform calibrations and measurements to high levels of accuracy and traceability.
- Verify internal and external calibration results and authorise calibration status where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate calibration records and oversee the integrity of the calibration database.
- Develop and improve calibration methods, processes, and schedules for new and existing equipment.
- Investigate and resolve calibration related non-conformances and audit findings.
- Support the introduction of new equipment, projects, and laboratory capabilities.
- Advise on calibration requirements relating to equipment purchase, repair and construction.
- Prepare and review equipment data sheets, calibration methodologies and uncertainty budgets.
- Deliver guidance and training on equipment use, safe working practices and calibration processes.
- Manage external calibration and repair suppliers, ensuring quality and compliance requirements are met.
- Ensure laboratory procedures and work instructions remain accurate and up to date.
About You
You will be a technically competent calibration professional with experience working in a laboratory, testing, or engineering environment. You will be comfortable working independently, solving technical challenges, and maintaining high standards of quality & compliance.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of calibration principles and measuring equipment used within testing laboratories.
- Experience conducting calibrations independently and making technical judgements on equipment suitability.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and its practical application within laboratory environments.
- Experience maintaining calibration systems, records and compliance processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and database management.
- Ability to balance planned workloads with reactive business requirements.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Minimum of HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering or a related STEM discipline.
- Broad technical knowledge gained within an industrial, testing or laboratory environment.
- Experience preparing uncertainty budgets and measurement uncertainty calculations.
- Knowledge of equipment procurement, specification and calibration requirements.
- Experience supporting equipment development, design or continuous improvement initiatives.
