About the role: BSI have a great opportunity for an Electrical Certification Manager to join our Electrical Certification Team, where you will be responsible for managing our IECEE CB certification schemes. Reporting to the Certification Team Manager, you will be playing a pivotal role by working closely with our testing team and our clients, where you will be responsible for the effective management and development of a portfolio of IECEE CB Schemes, delivering high-quality, “right first time” product evaluation, achieving client satisfaction and achieving commercial targets.

Responsibilities:

  • All certification applications are processed timely and effectively.
  • Technical reports are reviewed.
  • Certification recommendations are made.
  • Delivery of projects.
  • Project plans are maintained accurately so as to ensure business finances are accurately reflected and accurate forecasts of revenue are provided as required by the Certification Team Manager.
  • Where required represents BSI’s interests with external bodies (e.g. standards committees and notified body working groups) as required.
  • Proactively identifies new and/or amended product standards/directives and ensures BSI’s certification schemes are kept up to date and relevant to current market needs.
  • Works closely with the Sales Team, clients and test laboratories (BSI and external providers) to assess client enquiries and develop appropriate programmes to allow quotations for new certification projects to be prepared.
  • Proactively develops and maintain excellent relationships with current and potential clients.
  • May act as account manager for several key clients.
  • Global travel where required to support business development growth and client certification requirements.

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Detailed knowledge on a range of International, European or British Standards and/or other relevant documents and procedures (as relevant to specific post).
  • Expert knowledge of relevant product-related legislation and European Directives.
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant technical subject.
  • Knowledge of the quality requirements detailed in relative international good-practice documents (such as EN 45011 or ISO Guide 65).
  • Experience of IECEE CB Schemes for the safety of electrical and electronic components, equipment and products would be a major advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – capable of communicating technical issues to a wide audience, including clients with limited technical knowledge and clients who do not use English as a first language.
  • Customer focussed and solution orientated.
  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.
  • Familiarity with office IT systems and their application to commercial and technical processes.
  • Experience in monitoring budgets and maintaining cost control.
