Online OET Teacher (Zero Hours) – Remote/Online. Salary: 17.69/hr - 19.23/hr (depending on experience). Schedule: Saturdays (4-8 hours per week).

Job Description

As a premium provider of OET Preparation, our OET teachers are key to BSC’s vision of delivering outstanding and transformational learning experiences both in and outside the classroom. This role works closely with the OET Lead and online teaching team to ensure students’ progress through their chosen course of study and receive the guidance and feedback they need to succeed.

Duties

The duties of the role are outlined below, with further specification in the teacher handbook.

Online

  • Teach the BSC Online OET course, as set out in the teacher\\\'s handbook and guided by the OET Lead. Ensure all key course content is covered while remaining flexible to the individual learning needs of students.
  • Communicate learning outcomes and the structure of each session at the start of the day and explain how these fit into the overall course.
  • Teach high-quality lessons aligned with the standards set by BSC and the OET Lead.
  • Monitor student progress through formative and summative assessment and adapt materials and lesson content accordingly.
  • Direct students to relevant self-study materials provided.
  • Begin and end classes promptly.
  • Monitor student attendance and communicate with relevant parties.
  • Provide cover for absent teachers as required.

Outside the Classroom

  • Plan and prepare lessons in accordance with set curricula and syllabi, considering student needs before class.
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely, high-standard manner, including detailed work and homework records, materials used, test results and student information.
  • Leave sufficient detail for cover teachers when unable to teach.
  • Complete schemes of work/weekly plans in advance and update as needed.
  • Set, mark and provide homework feedback according to BSC policies.

Continuous Professional Development

  • Participate in training and CPD to maintain OET badge.
  • Review teaching methods and programs through Regular CPD and appraisals with your manager; track goals and CPD records in BSC systems.
  • Participate in BSC\\\'s observation programme for development and quality control, including peer observations and managerial observations.
  • Attend team meetings and CPD sessions as required.
  • Stay up to date with industry developments and apply relevant resources and methods to classroom practice.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with group, college and academic management on course preparation, materials, delivery and events.
  • Be familiar with teacher and student handbooks and updates.
  • Act as a conduit between students and college management; respond to student feedback professionally and promptly with manager collaboration.
  • Participate in employee surveys and provide relevant feedback.
  • Communicate relevant student information to your manager promptly.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Oversee student welfare and refer issues to safeguarding officers per group policy.
  • Manage student behaviour in the online classroom.
  • Ensure learners receive the designated amount of tutorial time.
  • Comply with all BSC policies, dress code, and online teaching etiquette.
  • Ensure learners are aware of BSC rules and regulations.
  • Conduct yourself in a manner consistent with BSC\\\'s Vision, Mission and Values.

Education & Experience Required

  • Cambridge CELTA/DELTA or industry equivalent
  • Digital OET Knowledge Badge
  • Degree or alternative relevant experience
  • Ability to deliver lessons to TEFLI/TEFLQ standards (depending on qualification)
  • Proven online teaching experience
  • Experience in EFL teaching with understanding of current industry developments
  • Evidence of CPD and willingness to learn new skills

Experience & Knowledge Desired

  • Comfortable using online teaching tools
  • Previous experience of teaching OET
  • Knowledge of another language at B1 or higher
  • Experience in curriculum/syllabus design or materials writing
  • Expertise in another subject or industry such as business, technology, or hospitality
