About the Role
The Technician represents dBs Institute to prospective students, current students and external organisations. The role holder will work alongside the Head Technician, Technical Manager and Head of Campus to handle the day to day running of the centre, and to increase its effectiveness. The Technician will ensure all facilities and equipment are clean and in working order whilst also being responsible for health and safety, adhering to all company and legislative standards. The role holder will provide front line technical, resources and facilities related support to students and staff with a focus on the provision of an exceptional student experience.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Ensuring all facilities and resources are clean, tidy and well maintained.
- Ensuring all equipment within the facility is in full working order, by engaging in regular preventative maintenance and reactive repairs.
- Acting as point of contact on site for Students and Staff requiring assistance and/or support with equipment, facilities and resources.
- Being responsible for opening/closing the building in line with shift patterns.
- Responsible for the security of equipment and premises, acting as liaison for external alarms/security/maintenance contractors when required.
- May be a named key-holder for security monitoring stations.
- Being responsible for upholding and promoting Health & Safety within the facility.
- Managing our booking systems and responding to resource booking enquiries as required.
- Working with Head Technician, Technical Manager, Head of Centre and Area Facilities Manager to establish and uphold site procedures and policies.
- Preparatory activities on site prior to the arrival of students.
- Responding to support requests as required.
- Representing the mission, aims and policies of dBs Institute in a manner that fosters cooperation and respect between staff on site and throughout all dBs Institute facilities.
- Ensuring the needs of students are addressed in line with technician responsibilities, and signposting to other services within the institute where appropriate.
- Work to contribute to a high level of morale among the staff.
- Attend all academic and general staff meetings as required.
- Be a representative of dBs Institute at open days and external events.
- Any other duties appropriate to the role as required by the line manager or management team (within the job holder’s level of skill and ability).
