Job Background: To be responsible for the delivery and the provision of Personal Life Skills and Employability in accordance with the quality standards of the Awarding Organisation. To enable young people to make appropriate choices in terms of developing skills, work placements, employability, and personal development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To develop and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the requirements of training programmes designed to increase the economic activity of learners.
  • To assess individual training needs in relation to the required level as part of a formal induction process.
  • To take appropriate action to ensure each candidate has the maximum opportunity to attain a relevant qualification appropriate to ability.
  • To agree and compile Action Plans with each learner that outlines how the targeted qualification will be delivered and achieved.
  • To create and maintain a warm, welcoming and supportive environment responsive to the needs of participants.
  • To ensure all participants are provided with a high level of pastoral care support.

Essential Criteria:

  • 5 GCSEs Grade C or above including English and Maths.
  • A minimum of one-year previous experience delivering Employability & Personal Development qualifications.
  • A minimum of 2 years working with unemployed and young school leavers.
  • Experience of standardisation within a working team.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Qualification in Youth Work, Counselling or Mentoring.
  • A recognised teaching qualification or Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or UUJ Certificate in Teaching (CIT).
  • A working knowledge of current Training & Employment Programmes.

A satisfactory Access NI Enhanced / Standard disclosure or Garda Clearance is required prior to commencement of employment.
